    Newbie here with a question???

    What's up everyone??

Just wanted to say hi and I have a couple questions for everyone.

I am COMPLETLY new to car pcs. I have a 99 chevy silverado and I have been looking at replacing the radio with a dvd/navigation/ u all know the rest. I was looking at the eclipse 6.5 inch screen with everything. I really didn't like the price and it would probably be out of date by the time SEMA rolls around. I want to move the ac controls and put around an 8 inch screen in the dash hooked up to a carputer or truckputer.

This is where the problem is. I have been surfing around the site and I really want a carputer now, I LOVE the possibilities and the site. Ok, so here's where i need help. Should I buy a complete car pc pre-built? or go with building something myself. My sister's husband is a car freak and he knows about installing this stuff so I not afraid to put it together myself over christmas break with a little help here and there.

here is what i would like:
    -easy to use software
    -dvd player
    -bluetooth
    -navigation
    -mp3 player
    -8 inch touch screen
-being able to have the computer start with my remote start
-maybe hook up more moniters later
    -have about 1000-1200 to spend

Also, do you have to have a headunit to hook up to the speakers. I have the factory system with alpine type r speakers. no sub or amp yet but they are coming, hopefully for christmas.

    Please help...

    FAQ Emporium.
There's answers to all your questions there. There's answers to things you probably never even considered.

    Read a lot. Think creatively.
    Use the search tool extensively.

Whether you build your own or buy a kit is up to you, your technical knowledge and your budget.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.

definetly man, are you moving your ac controls??

I was thinking I could buy some rear controls from a tahoe or something and then wire it up somehow but the rear controls don't have an ac button or defrost so I think that option is out.

let me know...also what size screen you putting in? I was thinking 8 inch screen with the ac controls removed.
