i would personally want it in a regular cpu case, to protect it.
Don't know from experiance though:P
Hey,
My carpc is almost done and I had a question about mounting the motherboard... I was thinking about putting it under one of the seats, its a normal motherboard from an old PC I used to have... What would be the best thing to mount it on or enclosure to put it in? Suggestions? I really don't wanna just stick it on a piece of plywood or something... Its a standard size intel based motherboard.

A regular pc case would be all well and good, if i wasnt trying to stick it under the seat, im pretty sure a normal case won't fit under my seat.

Make your own case from plexiglass. :P

Like I said, not speaking from experiance x_xA regular pc case would be all well and good, if i wasnt trying to stick it under the seat, im pretty sure a normal case won't fit under my seat.
But you're right, how about choosing a different location? I would imagine it'd be quite a bad idea to leave it under the seat unprotected, as crap from your shoes could end up being crap on the mobo.
Thats a great friggin idea! I don't know why I didn't think of it in the first place! One problem though... Im a terrible terrible worksman and I couldnt build a cardboard box. Do you have any tips like where I can get some plexiglass for a good price and the best way to do it... I think I'll go and google this right now.Originally Posted by WebDog
Thanks again. If anyone has tips on the best way to do this please post it up!

Plexiglass: HomeDepot or Lowes if you're in the US
Cut it with a plexiglass cutter... you basically use this tool to score the plexi, and then 'crack' it along the score line. It will make a clean cut.
If you need to drill holes in the plexi, always use the drill in REVERSE. You melt your way through the plexi. It takes longer, but this way you will not crack the plexi -- which is VERY easy to do with a drill, so be careful!
Not sure about best way to stick pieces together. I'll leave that for someone else to answer.
Hope this helps.

Sounds like a plan. I think I'll head over to the home depot after I take some measurements and map this out. Also I 've seen some cases that use Brackets to hold the pieces together.
Ill practice on a dummy piece before i do any drilling =P

or just find a metal box. You could stick it in an old router or hub box if you find one big enough. Do some dumpster diving, I've found old networking gear in the dumpsters before. Maybe an old vcr or dvd player that doesn't work.
Thats a good idea too, let me do some thinking and measuring and see what i come up with... The DVD player thing sounds like it would work as well.Originally Posted by eugenen
