    clarification on video signals

    hi everyone,
im obviously new to this, have been reading the forums for a while prior to signing up. anywho, can someone tell me if all that is required to recieve visual and audio signal from the screen is the rca audio/video input and output. reason why i ask is that the computer that i currently have at the moment doesnt have rca video/audio output. does this mean that i need to purchase a video capture card in order to get signals from the computer to the monitor? or is there an adapter in which converts vga from the computers video card to rca signals. im confused atm as to how it works. in addition to this, im not sure but will rca produce excellent video quality as oppossed to the vga input that a computer's video card requires.

furthermore, there are some screen in particular touchscreen's which has vga output, im assuming this is for the touchscreen function to work? or is it for plugging into the video card?

    puzzled member.

You ARE puzzled. First, the computer doesn't receive either visual OR audio signals from the screen.

Second, displaying computer output on a video screen results in terrible output.

Third, what you really need is a VGA screen like Lilliput or Xenarc or Linitx. Those screens can accept the VGA output from your computer.

Check the FAQ Emporium for a thread on VGA vs. Video.

The touchscreen VGA monitors that you find use USB for the touchscreen and VGA for the video.

    1) Some capitalization and punctuation go a long way toward having your posts readable and understandable. Seriously, this post was a headache to read. As a result, fewer people are willing to help you.
    2) Yes, there is an adapter to convert a VGA signal to RCA composite video. It's called a scan converter. Be aware that it will reduce the quality of your VGA output significantly. Most users that take this route are unhappy with the clarity of the PC display.
    3) PC's aren't designed to display on a TV, period. Even if you have a video card with native TV-out (such as on the EPIA M10000 motherboard), it will still look blurry. Some tweaking can get the display to be usable, for the most part, but the ideal setup is to use a display with VGA input.
    4) No screen has anything OUT (unless it's a complete headunit which would have speaker out, pre-amp outs, etc.). They only have signal IN. AS buurin stated, VGA is for the PC display. USB is for touchscreen funtionality. If the display is not a touchscreen, there would be no USB, obviously.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?
