Thread: BMW iBus Users needed!

I just joned this forum,
There are 4 pins on the interface:
+12V: (any 12V source switched or unswitched) you can get hold of.
GND: and Ground in the car
IBUS: the Ibus line itself. there are several locations you can get hold of the IBUS line, In US-Models there's usually a pre-wired CD-Changer cable in the trunk, if you want to mount it there...
NTSC: This is for enabling the Rear View Camera Input n the Nav Unit (Pin 17 on the Nav unit) IF YOU HAVE A SOFTWARE LIKE CARMES etc that enables that switch.

It's been a few months, but I believe this is how it's plugged in.

On your IBUS interface, the pins are marked with IBUS ->+12V -> GND. The CD changer cable has 3 wires.. I believe the brown wire is your GND, the white w/stripe is your IBUS.

If you want to confirm, you can hook up a voltmeter and check the voltages. The IBUS line should read +12V and fluctuate when it's sending messages. The +12V will stay +12V.

Thanks immortal...so if i dont have a NTSC...then the last pin on the ibus shouldnt be connected to anything right?

right.. just use the 3 you need

got any pics of your install yet?

All the BMW guys, anyone care to advise me on how the software setup of the ibus is done from start to finish? Also does anyone have the bmw skin with the day and night set up?

Also, how did you guys run sound to the stock amp?

I used the SVEN4 to go to the stock amp

There is some documentation on how to connect it at http://www.eedesignkits.com, but it is for the USB IBUS interface instead of the serial port one. Take a look at it, it might be helpful...

Can you get the distances detected by the parking sensors through ibus?
