I wouldn't advice to installed it yet.
But if you want, check the forum's FAQ. There are plenty of info, but not much specific to hybrid cars.
Hallo everybody!!!!
I have ordered the new Lexus RX400 hybrid,in one month I will be driving it. I am planning on having installed a carputer but I am not a car maniac, neither a computer maniac. So,please help me,by telling me step by step how to install it,what sollution is the best, and if there going to be any problem, since the car is a hybrid and there will a lot of electricity mambo jumbo I dont understand.I mean,it has a different battery for the electric motors and a different one for the soundsystem and so on,thus allowing me to install it ,right?Or I might need to buy also a new battery?I have this thing for Alpine,so I will propably go with a xenarc in car computer who will be connected to the Alpine Monitor and then to the amp and to the speakers and sub(all of them will be Alpine).
I really do not have the time to spend on my car,and if I am in for a lot of trouble please tell me now.I heard so many stuff about burned computers and wasted money,I really dont want this to happen to me.
So,how do I install a xenarc computer with one Alpine screen on the front,2 in the headrests, and an amplifyer with a lot of power?I know I can connect it to the headunit, but can I connect it to the amplifyer first?
I wouldn't advice to installed it yet.

All I can tell you is that if you have navigation in the 400h, you should figure out a way to tap into it with the computer; otherwise, you'd have to mount the screen somewhere off-centre. Also, with the Navigation Package, you shouldn't worry about a back up camera as it comes with the car.
As for your Alpine passion, there isn't much/any room in the dash where you could mount it (same as with the older RX300).

How come nobody in any forum ever mentioned the type of adarter that is compatible and could be used? The prices of the adapters for the 2006 rx400h?
How come you expect people to just tell you how to accomplish what you want when there's ****loads of information already here that tell you how to accomplish what you want?
Here's how you do it:
Pay someone who actually knows something a lot of money to install a computer in your car. Make certain he marks all the hardware up a significant amount to maximize the amount of money they make of someone like you who refuses to even look for information and expects someone to spoon-feed them like a baby.
Here's a suggestion: Go ask the same question to random passerbys ont he street. You'll get just as much insight as asking people on a forum to tell you how to install a computer in your car.
Here's an even better suggestion: Head to the FAQ Emporium, do some reading, and gain some knowledge.
Based on everything you said (not wanting to spend time, waste money, etc.) I would say maybe not dive into this. You could get all the functions you want (maybe) with some aftermarket car audio products. Go to some local shops that do custom installs and have experience on nice rides, and ask them what you could do with what they offer. Not trying to be rude, just honest. I have spent about 300+ hours reading these forums, and I haven't got anything even installed in my car yet! Seems that time and money are two requirements when taking the plunge into car computers...

Puffanug, you are so right.... (Nice nick, BTW!)
It took two years of hanging out here and reading and learning and planning before I got something in my truck.
I'm so far away from my ultimate vision, I had to break it up in stages.

most questions you need to get you started on the right path are found here in the forums. if you dont know what to search for you should start with the FAQ stuff like darque mentioned. in order to put a pc into a car, you first need a very good working knowledge on building pc's. maybe a little in fabrication. and last but not least you need alot of balls. meaning you must have the balls to take and rip apart your 20k-50k car and not be afraid of messing something up.
the first thing i would tell you to do is to build a pc for your house. learn how to install the operating system and software. and the list goes on. not to be mean but you will need to have a clue whats going on before you start. otherwise be prepaired to wear a flame suit every time you post.
if you dont want to learn and you just want it done, find an audio shop in the area that will do it for you. it might cost more but will be easy and what you want.

Please post on the forums! Chances are, someone else has or will have the same questions as you!
3 choices for this guy...
1) spend the next 6 months to a year engulfing yourself in this "hobby"... learning about cars... computers... fabrication..... interfaces..... powering issues.... & a bunch more stuff.... then actually pulling off an install...
2) being lucky enough to find & pay someone a bunch of cash to do it for you
3) just another fleeing thought or passing half ambission, never actually getting anywhere with this.....
so which do you choose?
if you choose option one, the last thing you should do is post a paragraph asking strangers to lay it all out for you, research it for you, & tell you how to do it![]()
