    Question on double din

Hello, after doing much research on this site, i have finally have picked up enough knowledge for me to feel confident enough for me to start building my car pc. After much debate with myself on how i wanted to add the screen, i deciced to do a one din motorized screen. you see, I have a 1998 lincoln navigator and I wasnt sure on how i wanted to approach the installation of the monitor. I originally wanted to dumb the HU and just embed the screen in the dash but i dont know enough about fiberglass to be able to make my own custom dash and i dont want to go ahead and spend more money on an additional amp just to power the car speakers so that is why i decided on doing the, install a 3rd party radio with a cd changer plug and the mp3car branded motorized 7" screen. but my question is this...

This is the interior of my truck. It looks like it has a double din which is why i wanted to install both the radio and the motorized screen there. but, i got skeptical after i figured since its a two din size then a 3rd party double din radio should fit right well, i went into crutchfield.com and checked out this screen just to see if it says that it fits and this is what i got...

it says it does not fit. So before i start purchasing both units, i just wanted to ask you guys if anybody can clarify if indeed it is a double din where ill be able to install 2 single din units without modifing the dash. Thank you

Keep in mind even if the space is double din, chances are they dont make a double din installation kit for your vehicle (meaning that an installation kit exists for installing an aftermarket head unit, but not both a head unit and lcd) and therefore you are left with the task of mounting both units in the dash somehow.

I have a ford focus with a double din and had this problem. Ended up paying best buy $120 to install the head unit and lcd and it doesnt look very good. in fact i am bringing it back because the lcd is slowly creeping its way into the back of my dash! They took the normal single din installation kit and modified it and had the two headunits just sitting on top of each other.

I had it done about a month ago... my plan is to walk in there and be like "look what my installer did!"... because the install looks crappy, the install kit if cracked on the sides from the mod. They used a black marker to cover up exposed metal casing from the head unit and lcd. and the lcd sits back pretty far, by no means flush with the dash. Then once they are like "you shoulda let the pros do it" i'll drop the bomb that they did do it

Way to get off topic... so yeh anyways chances are the stuff will fit but its not "plug n play" however it is doable.

    hi!

i have an 02 expedition, so its the same dash. we have a 1 1/2 DIN. i will mount my 7" touchscreen temp. in the middle console until i find somebody who can mold the screen in the bezel for a decent price.

if u want some like this:
