I like being a Newb :) Fab work started..

This is my first thread here after a handful of posts.

    My carputer (so far) is as follows;
    hp e-pc minipc Celeron 766 with 256meg of ram (but I know I have 2 512 cards somewhere )
Clarion DVS9755Z dvd player and digital controller
    UTStarcom 6700 pda/phone

My current stereo is a Nak40Z with Carver xover/pro, Focal polykev 6.5 components running off a Butler tubedriver 750, Dynaudio MW190 off an HLabs 800D, HLab cap and a trunk mounted red top Optima. I will be adding an RF 4X25 to run an Orion 6" in the dash and RF 5 1/4" Fanatics in the rear.

I wanted to run everything off the computer but decided that it's main function is to run my Electromotive TECIII and picked up the Clarion used on Ebay.

Screen is a cheap Innovatek. I made the new housing easily adaptable. The controls are on their own board which made things easier.

I plan to add TomTom or similar in the future for pda nav.
All that I need for now is a usb sound card with coaxial dig. out.

The car is a fully built turbo Spec V, sleeved and everything running 390whp on a Mustang dyno with Sunoco94 at 17#s.

Here's my progress with the fab work. I'll be a while yet getting it all in.

I will of course run movies and music on my hard drive. I plan to use a dual desktop program. I need Frodoplayer or similar front end still. I haven't even played with one yet..the minipc came with Linux installed and I need Windows to run the TEC software..

The plexiglass trim ring has to screw into it from the back so I used some teak so the little screws I have to use don't back out over time. I fig my design makes for an easy replacement if that cheap chinese screen craps out.
The bottom is plexi so that I could use an acrylic bonding agent to get the screen controls where I want them. I was afraid that superglue would give over time. The solvent makes the joint stronger then plex.
The top part was a cheap ga holder from Ebay that I cut up for it's angled view.

I'll do some sanding and filling this weekend, but I'm behind because I didn't do enough on first shot. Or I'm rusty but I pulled it and started again. Much better slope shape to drill out for a speaker grill and the gauges will sit better in relation to the car, sometimes there's great stuff here you wish you didn't read. JK better now then later.
Slowly but surely making progress too. I don't want to glass at work unless there's a couple days to air things out but crap tomorrow is Friday already. More soon.

    as you wanna be

To make ones that look like the Z's you can use 2.25" tubing and put a 45deg angle cut on it and sink it into some wet cardboard. If you use clear you could even backlight it and have the edge glow.
But I need lots of room for a deep center channel. I cut the front off an Ebay gauge with some nice angles to it to get that. I didn't make it
It's a built motor/turbo Sentra SpecV Our Cars

Thanks for the encouragement. I plan to get some more done this weekend.
And I'm itching to get it in, but it got really cold up here all of sudden
