Motorized screen tilt

I am a newb so I am posting this here. If it should be put in the LCD section let me know.

I am going to have to put my LCD in a DIN slot. Above my DIN slot is a 1” ridge that sticks out of the dash. I am going to have to mount the LCD DIN unit about 1” out to allow it to get fully vertical. But most screens tilt back some. What happens when the screen is opening and it meets resistance? Will I have to mount it so far out that it doesn’t meet any resistance or can I allow it to hit the dash and it will not damage the screen (motor, operation, etc) over time?

Most screens will return to a preset location, but the unit wiring must be correct (pay attention to which wire must be switched, which is constant, and which is ground). You may have to "run" the screen once to get the correct angle to avoid the ridge, but once that is done, you should be o.k.

To answer your question, No, the unit won't stop when it encounters resistance.
