    POL overloaded USB hub?

    so I've had the carnetix POL hooked up for some time now......havent used this hub in forever though.....anway.........it gets really hot....noticed today my PC doenst recognize it.....but it once did.........the voltage reads a steady 5.09V......but at 3+ amps......did i fry this thing.....or would it only pull what it needs?......also....the bluetooth adapter hooked up to it....seems to be dead too......has anybody had any issues with the POL?

    Lilliput; XPC/FLEX mobo; 1.7 ghz P4 Mobile;512 DDR; 160 gb HDD; opus 150; slot usb dvd-rw

    ......i found part of issue. I noticed that the thing does not shut off....found that my signal wire came unsoldered (pulled it to hard)........so the thing is always on now.......
    what good is having a signal wire.....it it turns on without it?
