    Red face carPC problems

    Hello.

I'm going crazy cause i can't recognize my problem.

So here is how my installation looks:

I bought a 7" LCD screen with video in (not vga, but the one with yellow chinch)
I installed it where my radio should be, i wired just the 12V + and - wires, i left the breakwire and the acc wire aside. In my trunk i put my pc:
    - p3 1000mhz
    - 512 SDram
    - RADEON 8500 LE
    - CD/DVD COMBO
    - 120GB Seagate disk

All this is powered by a 200 Watts Power supply pluged in the 300Watts inverter. I connected the lcd with the tvout of my graphics card.

With my lcd display i got a filter box...when i wired the 12V + - through it...the picture on the lcd is visible until the windows start to load (the screen with the logo and blue loading bar) then it reboots, without this filter box it all boots perfectly but the picture on the LCD is crappy.

So i guess i should try solving this prob with the filterbox mounted. Help... I'm out of solutions...please tell what could i try...???

Hmmm...that could really be a problem, i bought this lcd for a really low price in a local autoacoustic shop and it has no brand names on the box or on the lcd...

So...all i can tell you is how it looks (i bet that won't help you a lot)
Anyway...it is a little black box it has a red wire and a bvlack wire going in and coming out on the other side...in side there is a fuse on chip or something that looks like it and some black thingies i don't even know what they are.

So is there anything else with which i could test if it is the lcd or is it the computer? I'm pretty sure there isn't any cable fault cause i tried multiple cables.

sounds like this filter box is drawing a lot of current, you don't happen to have it wired in line with the power going to the inverter do you? perhaps you taped into the cig lighter to get your monitor power and that's the same place your have the inverter plugged in. i would try connecting the monitor to a different power wire and see what happens.

Try the LCD with a different PC and the Carputer with a ditterent display.

If you stay underinformed, we will not be much help.

Knowing your system set up would make this easier.

What you are experincing is a "Blue Screen" most likely. If it is XP w/ SP2 you can use the F8 key on the keyboard before you see the Blue XP Loading bar and choose "Disable Automatic Restart on System Failure".

If the option is not there, try booting the PC in safe mode. If it loads then we know it is some sort of drive issue. We can pinpoint the error if you can boot into safe mode by going to

Start => Control Panel => System => Advanced Tab => Settings button under Startup & Recover.

Uncheck "Automatically restart on system failure". Ok, Close, Reboot and if we see a blue screen lets write down the stop error code.

Give it a try and let me know.
