Rough draft: Equipment list, total n00b

Ok, i was browsing the store, and I am starting to compile a list of stuff that I want to get to build the system. As of now the list includes:

1 x Ampie Car Computer Case
    1 x VIA EPIA M10000 Mini-ITX Mainboard
    1 x OPUS 120 watt DC-DC power Supply DCX3.120
1 x Lilliput 8" VGA Touch Screen TFT LCD Display
    1 x Corsair 256 mb DDR 266
    1 x 20 gb laptop hd
1 x Linksys USB wifi adapter

My list looks extremely short. Anything i am missing? Also is the product selection look good (motherboard and powersupply i have no idea about)

I dont want to play games on this system. I want it to play mp3s, browse the internet (when i am close to home or another hotspot), perhaps GPS navigation...

    Some questions I have:
What GPS module do you recommend (usb under $100 preferably)?
What front end do you use (Frodoplayer or what)?

Any other advice? I have been building computers for a while, but now i want to move one to my (future)car...

for GPS - ask the question in the GPS forum, better yet, read first. (hint: the bu-353)

    other than that, looks good

have you thought about how your going to hook up your cars speakers to this computer?

Depending on where you put the actual pc, you'll need either a video extension cable or something else to extend the signal from your video out on the pc to the monitor. You'll also need a long usb cable to go from the pc to the touchscreen part if you put the carpc away from the monitor. Various wires and fuses, and in addition to what Red GTi said, you should be all set.

well i am hoping to get a f150, so most likely the comp is going to be under the extended cab seat, or if o go through with my plans to remove that seat, it will be next to the amp which will be displayed in the sub box i am going to build. Yeah i have read about that GPS thing, the bu-whatever, but is it compatible with the centrafuse nav system? I am thinking centrafuse is looking good

ok i was thinkin about it, do i actually need the ampie case if i am going to mount it in a sub woofer box? it would save some $$ and give me a lil more room to more comfortably mount the harddrive with some shock abosorbing something or other... or would you advise that i mount the harddrive outside of the case or wha?t

The ampie case doesn't have much in the shock absorbing area. Hard drives have internal shock absorbing (at least laptop drives do) so I wouldn't worry about the case if you've already got something to mount it in. Just make sure wherever you mount it the mobo will be away from any potential electricity discharge areas (like screwing the mobo right to sub carpeting).

ok, so i am now thinking i will stick with the case, but add some shock absorbing springs below it, which will also create room for a fan below the case, which will also increase cooling (texas weather gets way hot)... does the ampie come in any other color other than blue or is blue it?
