Lmao, you have to have an operating system. I don't believe you should be using a carputer if you don't know that.
First off I am not computer illiterate, I have installed PC's before and windows. As a matter fact I tried to install windows already and It keeps on giving disc boot error messages. You dont have to be sarcastic dicks when trying to help someone. Anyone else? any ideas?
you got a cd rom ?
check your bios for boot order, your bios is probably trying to boot off a disk that isnt there anymore
we not being sarcastic, just replying to your first post that clearly didnt state all the information you have now shared

The bios clearly thinks there is no boot disk. There's nothing magical about a mini-itx, aside from being damned small. Like Scoob said, bring up the bios and check the boot order. Have you tried moving the ide connector from the one interface to the other? I did that by accident when moving from a "table layout" state to a "mounted in an enclosure" state and flipped out, thought I had broken the dang thing. Moved the cable, was back in business.
Yeah it was booting off of the floppy first but I changed it to HDD 0 to but off first. Still not working . Keeps saying Disc boot failure. Insert System Disc and Press enter. I have enter Windows XP and a dowloaded Drivers disc from VIA snd still not working. ANy help?![]()
Have you tried installing winxp from a cd-rom to the hard drive? I just went through this exact excersize, and didn't have to download anything from via until I had totally installed windows xp pro and sp2. Even then, it was only for the board specific (m10k for me too) stuff like usb, video and some other stuff. I didn't know windows xp was still able to get installed initally via a floppy. How did windows get installed if not via CD?
Exactly. You put the XP CD in the drive because you want to boot off of it. So put CD-ROM before HDD0 in your boot order so that it can boot from it.Originally Posted by Philly#1 Lex
