My First Post. Can I Use my 06 Accord Nav and add the rest of the Carputer?

Like the title says, i want to see if i can use the existing Nav stuff in an 06 accord and just add stuff to it to make a carputer. i mainly want to have a HDD with mp3's. i tried a search but couldnt find this paticular question. Any help would be cool.

all I can say is good luck. unless you know how the screen interfaces with the computer and you can build/buy something to turn it into a usable source, I would say no. Well, unless you are a EE with too much time on your hands and a fierce determination to keep things oem.

My recommendation with your setup would be to get an auxillary input adapter and an Ipod and be done with it.

this could achive what you want.
however if you want more, there could be an adapter to use the screen with an aux source, i know there are some for others.

Thanks everyone. I just figured I was stupid enough to pay the extra $2000 to get the Nav., I may as well try to use it. I was going to do the dealer installed iPod connection, but they wanted $550 for it (including install). I figured i could do something better myself. I've installed plenty of car stereos, and have built a handful of computers... I figured a carputer is just the next logical step. I'll have to start taking things apart in the Accord so i can get to the bones of all these components, and see what I have to work with. I'll keeps everyone updated, with pics too (if i manage to blow up my car...)

Listen, you figure out how to do what I want then you can talk to me about having to spoon feed me info. Do you know anyone with the iPod link in the honda? Turns out it sucks... hence the reason for the post. I wanted to do something better, like a carputer, but using the stuff I already have.
