Well, every time I try to play a DVD, it tells me that a viable decoder can't be found... I figured that had to do with a driver.
My noobness is astounding. =)
Anyway, the audio isn't working either... o_o;

Your DVD-Rom is fine. You need a software DVD player like WinDVD or PowerDVD.Quote:

You're looking for a license to allow you to play encrypted DVDs. If you play a DVD filled with AVI or MPG files, does it work ok? Probably. I agree with b8bboi and the others.
Any ideas on my sound issue? There's like... nothing at all...
Sorry to be such a pest, haha. XD
The sound issue (while playing DVDs it sounds like) will be worked out once you get the license. You can always download or install something like Nero that will give you a temporary key (at least it did when I bought it) to play DVDs just to make sure that is correct.
No, no... you misunderstand me. There's no sound at all. No annoying Windows startup noise, no bleeps and blips and voips. There's just nothing coming out of my speakers at all. Everything is turned up, too.
you need sound drivers ;) or to set up sounds
driver: http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/cont...s/sa10sndx.exe
Sound driver for Satellite A15-S1292, Version 5.12.01.3542
~ADI WDM Audio Driver for Windows XP/2000
Is that the right version?
I assume you don't have the drivers cd which came originally with the laptop right?
