How fast actually Epia M10000 is?

I am thinking of buying carPC. Maybe some itx carpc. Probably system based on Epia M10000. But I would like to know first what this M10000 is capable to do? What will that 1Ghz processor do?

How fast/slow is the processor compared to processors on desktop pc:s? Is is as fast as some 1Ghz Intel processor on desktop pc? Or to which processor it should be compared?

And has anybody any experience on Intel carpc:s? Like Latte PC?

I just heard from my friend that this VIA:s 1Ghz processor is compared to something like Pentium 3 600Mhz or something? Is this really true? Well if it is true, Then I am not buying that. I am not willing to hame so slow pc on my car. Have to think some other systems, maybe some Intel based systems what I have seen.

Yes that is true. The performance that the 1ghz puts out is not very good. It is good enough to play video and music though, which is why most people use it for their car setups.

Most people play music, videos and gps navigation in their car (maybe internet too). The Via processor motherboards have enough power to accomplish these task... particularly if you optimize your XP install with things like nlite.

Well yes maybe I either don't need any other things to run on carpc but I think I don't get for what I pay for. I think I start to look some Intel carPC solutions where is on same price much better processor. Maybe I don't need any much better processor on car but still...

The advantage of Via mobo is its low power usage and compact size. Personally it is too slow for me too. Although it has enough power to run mp3 and gps at the same time, it slows down when I add voice command software such as Navivoice.
