Exclamation New to the whole carputer thing and need a little advice please

Hey guys just registered and was wondering if i could pick ya'll brains a little.

Ive just bought everything i need for the project (i think) off a mate who had the install in his subaru, was registered on here under DJ Watt's. However the way his was set up included a headunit as well as the screen and computer.

Now my car (celica gt4 - st205) only has the double din slot with no real way of installing a headunit to run the speakers. So i was wondering the best way to to make the speakers work. Will i have to connect an amp to the computer and then connect the speakers to the amp?

any other advice would be helpful as i have no idea what im doing with the whole install.

    Thanks people

    Welcome to a wallet-draining hobby.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

    First, welcome.
Second, like DP said, here is a faq that should clear things up
HOW TO: Get sound from PC to Car Stereo / Amp
Third, what do you mean by your "no real way" comment? Do we gather there is a big hole in your dash, no head-unit, and 8 spkr (2 per spkr) wires just hanging there? Please clarify.
Fourth, you have a choice to make; amplify and control sound from PC using a head unit, or do it all through the PC. That single choice seemed to clarify alot of subsequent choices for me.

    Good luck.

Go with PC powered amps!!!!!!!!! Thats my setup and if you know how to tune a PC and amps you are in for a musical delight. Head unit wold do the trick but why limit yourself to the power of a headunit?? run stereo miniplug > stereo RCA patch cable from the PC audio out to the RCA inputs on some good amp(s). In my setup I have 1 amp running my 4 speakers and another amp running a 12" sub. Loud and clear.
