i believe that you should replace the wire in the car because you will not get near teh bass or quality out of the stock wires. i have changed all the speakers in my 1992 grand prix gtp and have noticed that you cant get the quality or bass you should have out of your speakers with their stock wires.

I like both alpine and jl audio (favorite 2 12w3) just make sure that the amps rms matchs the subs rms and that the amps peak isn't higher than the subs peak ( you can always turn the gain on the amp down)

is that the rms or peak? if you want but two amps one for each sub then get 2 mono (1 channel (D)) amps but if you want to use one amp then get a 2 channel amp. from what your saying the wattage is i think you would be better off getting two amps, but it all depends on how you want to wire your subs. if you tell me what ones you plan on getting i think i could be of more help to you.
