Is it Possible?
Kinda Silly but I have a question, Is there any way to be able to use a 17inch LCD, with my car computer - as with the type of car I have Space isnt really an issue. My concern however is power consumption. I have an old School Classic car that really the alt and battery are simply used for starting the car and lights. 1977 El Camino. I am Thinking of making a flip down monitor from the roof. But again I would have no idea how to obtain the power requirements needed. Working with wiring and soldering is not a problem for me.
So please any advise would be great.
As long as the system is 12 volt it shouldn't be a problem. To be sure I would check how much amperage you alternator is rated for. If not; upgrading the alternator on an El Camino probably isnít that hard.
There is no reason why you can't use a 42" lcd screen in your car, but putting a touch sensitive layer on would be more than the TV not to mention finding space. To be thorough you should make a list of all you electrical components (amps, pc, monitor, headlights, ECU, etc...) going in and calculate how much amperage they all use up at their max then compare that to the alternator output.
Some of your questions could be answered if you search around a bit. Also asking one clear question would help too.
Good luck with the install.
hey thanks for the information i apperciate it. if you come across any additional information please let me know.
