    Wiring Diagram Question

I am still in the planning stages but am basically waiting to get my power supply then I should be ready to really get going with this project.

I am wondering what size fuses will be needed for my setup? Am I missing anything else at the moment? Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

Just a few things I saw on your diagram that have been my mistakes in the past. Just an FYI not a bash
You screen should be powered from your computer. If it uses 12v dc than power it directly from the molex connector on the computer. THis will reduce the risk of line noise and help produce a better quality display. Your cars voltage is a little inconsistent and may cause poor quality video or even damage to your screen.
Make sure you have a large enough power supply for your carpc. Dont skimp on the PSU get a quality one right away, save some money buy spending some extra. Stay away from the M1ATX or M2ATX they dont have a very good life expectency and are not reliable. Get an opus and be happy.
As far as fuses go, depending on how much power you draw. Use this link to determine how much of a fuse you require.

I agree with JagPuter on the PSU...don't skimp its not worth it. Also, do youself a favor and don't use the cig lighter...Much easier to hard wire somethign and to know you wiring job is good than to depend on the dinky factory wiring...plus who knows what else is running off that fuse. Easier to do it right and not worry about it.

    my 2 cents.

the cigarette lighter for the screen will probably just end up being temporary, as when I tested it is seemed to work fine, at least for the time I had it running. I have heard a lot of good things about the m2-atx, but obviously some bad things too, but have heard the same about the opus as well.

Just remember you get what you pay for with PSU's.
I have had my 150watt opus for over two years and use it every single day.
    Works great.
Before that I used an M1ATX and replaced it twice with in 3 months before ditching it. MiniBOX "the guys I bought it from" replaced it once and admitted to problems with it, but the second time gave me the run around.
It doesnt hurt to experiment I guess, but be prepared for some frustration and shelling out some serious cash.
I have worked with carputers for over 4 years now and have tried many differnet configs. Trying to save money. But I ended up in the end buying and spending what I was trying to avoid. Quality higher priced parts. But now relizing that I made the right choice since I havent had to replace anything inthe last year and half.
I havent tried the M2ATX but I imagine since it is made by the same guys the reliability is the same. CRAP.
    My setup consists of:
    Epia m11 1200mhz MOBO $170.00
    OPus 150watt PSU $150.00
    80gb 2.5 seagate hard drive $100.00
panasonic dvdrw slim slot drive $85.00
    512mb ram $40.00 - Ebay Steal
belkin USB cable and Video cables $100.00 total
    Holux USB gps mouse $75.00
Dynamix 7" VGA Touch Screen $220.00
Havent had a problem in 1.5 years since total install. I am happy

No realys needed unless you are switching some serious voltage. Some use relays to make a home made shutdown controller.
