Advice on location, size, and setup of the lcd in a durango

I am in the process of setting up my first car computer. I have a 98 durango. The computer part is fully taken care of, but I am trying to figure out the best way to put the screen in, and what size screen to get.

Here is what I am 'thinking' of doing at this moment, and I am looking for the advice from someone who actually knows the pros and cons to a setup like this.
I would like to get this item (or similar): http://www.mobilevideo4less.com/Merc...ory_Code=BRKTS
and mount it where that lcd screen is sitting in the picture (the durango has a little tray right there on the floor), then put the screen on the end of the gooseneck (please note this is just a random image so people can see what I am trying to do).

I am also looking to any input on using either an 8" or a 10" screen. I do not know if a 10" is 'too big' or just will be obnoxious with this type of setup.

I am sorry if this is a rediculous type of information to request, I would just like to make sure it will look good (maybe someone has experience with this type of setup) and work properly.

    Thank you.

My GF has a Durango and I have stared for hours at the dash trying to figure out a good way to get a screen in there. Unless you are a master fabricator you are pretty much screwed. I don't like the gooseneck solutions. Looks too "added on" and also very attractive to potential thieves.
Good luck with it, and if you do fabricate a way then make 2 while you're at it and send me one.

Great install, but you didn't have the 4WD shifter to work around.

No, I have the electronic shift. He is using a 7", I am sure that can be made to fit around the shifter. Mine is an 8" and I made the mount a lot bigger than it had to be just to take up space. If I had to I could probably make the same mount for a 7" LCD and still leave room for the shifter.

thanks for the input guys - and matrix, i have read that thread probably close to 10 times already very nice install.

I am working with a lillput 8". I DO have the 4x4 shifter to work around. And I really do not want to have it as low as matrix's. I guess I am probably out of luck unless I decide to relocate my vents and do some fabrication. :/

With an 8" you are kind of limited to the dash then. The only thing I did not like about that dash is that it is one huge piece and was hard enough to work with just changing the radio out. There are not too many ways to go in the Durango. Post pics when you decide on what to do, I am interrested in what other people will do with their Durangos.
