    Hi Everyone!

    Hey Everyone,

    I'm new to the forum and stumbled across it while looking for information on how to install a computer system and 4 TFT monitors two in headrests and other two in the front.

    I am having problems understanding a few things.

    1. How exactly do these systems work? How do I power a computer in the car as well as monitors and all this added power consumption? Would I have to change an alternator or is there other ways around this?

    2. How do I hook all the pieces together? Like computer, monitors, etc... Would I have to buy some sort or switcher or some sort of intermediary between the computer and 4 screens.

    3. Would anyone be able to recommend parts I could use that would work well together? I'm not sure if these sort of systems have compatibility issues or not.

    4. I have a 2002 Nissan Altima and found a Great tutorial on this site on how to install 6.5" TFT monitors into my existing headrests. But I notice that the wires hanging out from the bottom of the headrest seem to go into the seat... Does the wiring have to go through the seat? And do you have to gut the seat to get the wires? or is there another way this works?

    5. Also I have a PS2 and Xbox 360 I would also like to put into the mix for long drives for the friends/family. Would there be any problems trying to hook a computer as well as a PS2 and xbox up? Or will I have to just go with one or the other or only one system?

    As you can see I am really new to this, and would appreciate any help anyone could give me. I would like to do the work on my own seeing as to I don't have to much money to pay for labour after buying all the TFT monitors and computer parts... Thank you all in Advance for the help!

    It's my first opportnity to show a newbie this thread: New to CarPCs? Don't know where to start?
    It's a work in progress, but it's a great starting point.

    For your specific questions:
    1. See the thread I posted above.
    2. A video splitter is the best solution for multiple screens. There are some that accept multiple inputs and allow each screen to select their sources individually.
    3. The parts you use are individual choices, but there are some suggestions in the thread I posted above.
    4. I'm not the expert on installation, so I can't help you on this one. Sorry.
    5. Look into a multiple-source video switch, as mentioned in my answer to #2.

    We ask that you do reading on any/all topics that you think might relate to the goals for your project. There's no such thing as too much knowledge.
    Chances are someone has already thought of something that you have. It's also likely that someone has attempted it already, and you can find the results of that here most of the time.

    Thanks for the quick response... I will definately read over this information... Again thanks for the help, and if I seem really ignorant when it comes to car mods well, this is going to be my first Car Project... Want to get the inside working right and looking good, then work my way to the engine and eventually exterior...
