    Carputer Spec

Hi im wanting to put a carputer into my peugeot 206 now my glove box is very small and i dont want to drill anything in the car so im thinking i may mount he carputer hw under the passenger seat and discreetly run the cables in the dash.

So my first quandry is what kind of spec I need
Ive built many computers but dont know how system resource hogging the programs i want to use are so here goes,

i want to use roadrunner, playing music, video, phone control, sat nav, all that running from hard drive (no cd player music and stuff put on either thru usb stick or wireless network at my house.

so what kind of spec will this need im thinking a 1.5ghz cpu with around 512mb ram and a 200-250gb hard drive? this means i can store my maps (using freedrive sat nav) and music and movies and configure it to auto update my appointments and stuff.
    Thanks for your help people.

what you specified should easily be up to the job. it is worth while installing the various apps and stuff on your desktop computer before you go out buying stuff so you can see how they run, and it should also give you an idea.

Good point il try installing them on my laptop cuz its a bag of nails see how it runs on that. if they run on that quite smoothly then i know im sorted.

another question is how do i get the radio onto the computer or does the radio come thru the normal head unit

the head unit im using is the standard peugeot cd player and hasnt got any aux ports just the iso ports that are used for the steering wheel remote and stuff?

    Cool

Your biggest issue is going to be getting the sound into the headunit, as you said the standard 206 head unit doesn't have any aux. in. so you're going to have to upgrade your sound system before you do anything.

    Just a thought.
