    Exclamation XBOX in the car

Hi Guys, I wouldn't normally do this but I just found out that I have to drive six people 14 hours w/kids. So, If it's possible I need to hook up an Xbox in my SUV like, quick!!

My usual disclaimer: I'm not really new to this. - Yes, I have searched - (not so true in this case, cause I need answers quick - I'm leaving in a week and already have way to much to do).

In this situation, I need answers NOW. - Proven ones that work - not just Ideas (I've got lots of those) ) Basically, I need to order the parts (probably overnight) and make it work with minimal fuss.

That being said, heres what I have to work with: Xbox (Not 360) and LCD monitor (110v) and an SUV.

Here is what I hope I can use: An inverter to run the Xbox and the LCD. ( The Xbox runs on 12v internally but I haven't found an easy tutorial for this mod and not sure if I'll have time). One of those X2VGA boxes for converting the component video to VGA.

Please tell me it's that easy AND: - Thanks a LOT for understanding my dilema.

It sounds like you have everything covered. Give us some details about this LCD screen, though.

OK, lets see, Its al ELO 1524L 15" touchscreen that I got from the trash bin at work - I just popped in a new bulb and it works fine. I have a smaller, older version as well - same deal. Later I hope to use them for my car PC but We'll see. - Thanks for the replies guys - I know this really belongs in an XBOX forum but by the time I could register - I would have like 2 days to get it done. - If one of you is a member on an XBOX forum could you copy and submit this question for me - then I could log on a read the replies. ??

You should have red/white RCA connectors from the XBox for L/R stereo channels.
Those would go to an AUX input on your car stereo or to a casette adapter or something to get audio to the car stereo. If you odn't want it going through your car stereo, then you have a much larger project on your hands.....
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.

I would, but they would call me a newb. sorry.

I am missing what you actually want the xbox to do while you are driving. I mean, youre not really going to be playing games on it while driving, and as far as music cds a $20 walkman cd player would work just as well.

    Is your xbox modded?

I'm pretty sure he wants it for his passengers to use. Did you read the first post?

Rex: Looks like you have it pretty much figured out. An inverter is a quick simple solution to power both the lcd and xbox. A dc-dc solution would be more effieient, but it is more complicated and will take more time to set it up. I know that you can get a dc dc power suply for the xbox, but if time is limited, i would just use an inverter for power. as far as the sound goes, the suggestion of aux inputs or a cassete adapter are good solutions, if they are not available to you , look into an fm modulator.

No Mods to my Xbox - I have heard that there may be a BIOS mod needed but that is why I posted - I'm not sure. I will check my Xbox version tonight in case it is relevant.

PURDoom - So you must have experience if your not a newb - Can you tell me if you have done this type of install? If so, am I missing anything?

I just want to be sure from someone who knows - It sounds complete to me but if it is so easy - how come when I google it everyone is talking about modded boxes and there aren't any - "Oh yeah, just do this" posts?

    Thanks again guys

Agreed. Sounds like he wants the xbox for the children. Yes, but you would have to hack the Xbox if you want to use a DC-DC solution.

I do these sort of things at work somtimes so I'm set up for soldering and such - can you give me specs on the Mod? I think i saw an article from Llama a while back but I don't think it mentioned specifics. Thanks!
