    Ford explorer stereo install

    Hi All,

I have a couple questions regarding my 99 ford explorer. The stock CD/tape deck gave up the ghost. The stock stereo has steering wheel controls and DOES NOT have the disc changer. When I pulled the stereo out it says MACH on the back. It also has three plugs coming from the back. I do not know if it has the amp or not. However I am putting a Pioneer super tuner IIID. I have the wiring adapter from Best buy and it only adapts to the biggest plug. The other two smaller ones I have know idea on. Is one of the plugs for the steering wheel controls and won't need? Is there another adapter I need if it has the amp? Don't want to fry anything. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!!! Thanks.

ASking this question on a forum specific to car audio or specific to Fords would yield you better results.
We put PCs in vehicles 'round here.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.

But just for your information (and this is probably all you'll get), if it says MACH then you have an amplified system. Expect to not be able to use the stock subwoofer if you have it.

You need to go back to Best Buy and tell them you have the wrong harness. It'd be best if you kept the radio out and showed them what you had behind the radio, and they'll be able to give you the right harness (possibly)

Also, the 'Super Tuner IIID' refers to the FM circuit on Pioneer radios. That's not the model of the radio.
