You could try making a setup like many others here and network your car. Everyone could play on the carputer CS server or something, lol. It's a nice car, but unfortunately there isn't that much room in the cabin.

I like your 15" screen idea. Just a couple problems with that. If you mount it up front, you'll probably be blasted by the brightness of a screen that large. Not sure if you were thinking it, but a 7" in tandom with a much larger screen might be better suited for night/music/navi use. I've seen a ton of bigger SUVs, work trucks and Hummers with something like the 15" setup. Works great if you have the room for it.

If you can afford it, I'd definately recommend putting your tablet in the car. This seems to work the best, and being a laptop you can pop it out much easier. Touchscreen built in, etc....

I'd recommend for your first install to keep it minimal. Three computers would just clutter up the car, and leave less room for cargo on road trips. Once you get the basic stuff up and running, you'll come up with tons more ideas on how to add more features, etc to it. Good luck, I'll be checking this thread often

ooo i meant that friends could just bring the laptops with em (i have a inverter... kinda got me started on this whole holy grail of a carpc lol).

im lookin at the AMD X2 3800+ socket AM2 with a TDP of 35 watts, a 7300 GS (1/2 height) with a TDP of 28 watts (as far as i can tell... anybody able to give me a def TDP of the 7300GS chip?), 1 gb of DDR2 (TDP of 20-30 watts i believe 2x512 modules), a internal wifi card, external audigy 2 usb, and bluetooth adapter. Found a good Micro ATX slimline case that is 3.8 in tall and 12.8 wide and 15.8 deep. Probabally installing under the passenger seat, with the slimline DVD drive goin to the center console.

    heres the layout im thinkin:

    |--------------------------------|--|
    | Slideout LCD | |
    |____________________________| 1|
    | | |
    | New head unit | |
    |____________________________|__|

1= slimline optical drive mounted vertically

edit i cant get this to work right but the right side should be even.... the slimline is on the right side of the LCD and head unit.

and put this where the current radio/cd player is (it is 2 DIN). the reason for an amp and subs etc... unless i can take my audigy 2 usb and wire that to an amp... then i would put slimline under the LCD and just close off the rest of the space.

have you considered a hard drive in there? or did I just miss it?

regarding installing under the seat, just be sure you consider all of the things that go on under there.

Cokes, food, dirt, sand, salt, mud, etc.

Just keep these things in mind when considering your install under the seat.

well under the front seats wont work (was gonna put it inside a "pan" so to speak to keep that stuff out of it... but leave the top of it open so air can get to it still), the case i like the mose is too long (as are almost every other case ive looked at getting that could have a good/newer proc in it) by about 5 in. So thats out b/c ppl cant put their feet on it lol

So my next idea was under the rear bench seat, and actually this idea is better overall (gotta get up under the car and see whats under that area to figure out if there is enough space under there). At this spot i could put it in the center of the rear benchs, so its on top of the raised divider anyways and add a few inches off the top of that also. Also I can make it completely hidden from view, so the only thing that would hint at me havin a carpc in there would be the lcd (but that wouldnt be noticeable when the car is off b/c it would be a slide out unit).

Red where are you talkin about puttin the HD? If your askin weather or not ill have one, then the answer is yes. At first ill prolly just scavenge an old laptop hd (i got one that the power dosnt work on it, but the rest of it is fine), for a few months then pick up a 7200 rpm unit (60 or 80 gb most likely, a mobile drive of course 2.5 in). I just didnt put it in that list of specs lol completely blanked it out lol.

no - I didn't see a hard drive figured into your power consumption post at all. That's why I was asking about a hard drive.
