...and whats the CPU?
I've got a POS (point of sale) computer with a 10.4 touchscreen, 128mb Ram, Snd, 10/100 LAN, USB, 1 PCI slot, and 10G 2.5" HDD. What should I be able to run with it? I'd like to run something like Frodo Player and a GPS app. Is this feasible? BTW, I've got $0 invested and I have several to play with.

Man, I can't believe I left that out! I was making sure I covered all the peripherals and forgot the CPU. It's a Cyrix 233 MMX overclocked to 300mHz.
My original install was a P200MMX it ran win2k and winAmp at 20-30% cpu load.
The current install is only a little faster, Celeron 300a (not overclocked)
You should be able to run a version of windose and a music player without much trouble.
I dunno, my first install was a 500mhz laptop and I could easily listen to music, decode an mpeg video and run a few other things at the same time, but then again, I was running linux and had pared it down as much as possible.
If you've got nothing invested, might be worth it to see if there's an easy and cheap faster CPU to plug in. If there is, I can't imagine it wouldn't cost to much these days on ebay.
Thanks everyone. This machine seemed like just the ticket, except for the slow CPU. Ithink I will look for a faster replacement for it.
I don't know what your planning, but if it's mainly music and whatnot, should be passable.Originally Posted by rk779
I have an HP Kayak around here that was a 233mhz, I haven't used it in quite awhile, but from what I recall, it did media and stuff like that fine.
Anyone with a Via....
