There are none.
Hi all,
I have been searching for weeks now and can't seem to find any double-din LCD units that have touchscreen, USB and VGA. All the ones I can find are all single-din.
My car has double-din and I want to utilise the whole space, as I'm not such a fan of the fold-out ones (as they will obscure other dashboard switches on my car).
Does anyone know of any?
Thanks in advance!
i know of one
its called the "make-it-yourself"
search the forums, a lot of people have made just stand alone screens into a double din enclosure
USB - meaning? you want a USB port on it?
a 7" screen usually fits with a bit of work in a double din spot.
This site sells a few different versions of 7" VGA Touch screen monitors.
Not sure why you specifically need the USB port though?

I think he means a usb touch screen. And yeah, 7" screens fit nicely in double din, you jus tneed to make a custom bracket to make it fit.
my buddy's car -(made with bondo)
my car -(custon bracket inside, fit behind trim)
my old car -(same setup as current, just a bit cleaner)
most every VGA touch screen on this site is controlled VIA USB...the serial ones are few.
I'm gathering this guy just hasn't looked much at all then if that's the case:

I'm thinking that what he is looking for is a standard 2-din drop in screen like 6.5" I guess with VGA and USB interface. Basically like the good looks and ease of installation of some drop in units but the ability to connect a carpc to it.
While loloking for a pic, I found this auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/JENSEN-DOUBLE-DI...QQcmdZViewItem and I think that is a good representation of what he wants, but just the screen and ports.
On a side note, I noticed that unit had a built in SD card reader, and could be hooked up to the all glorious ipod. Got me thinking that maybe it could acccept a regular harddrive through some emulator that makes the unit think that it is an ipod. Would be good for those people who want bagillions of songs, but don't have the experience for a PC.

Thanks for the infoI was trying to avoid this as I like the idea of having the built-in DVD drive so that if I want to play a CD I don't have to put it into the PC. But yes, I might have to mount it in a bracket, like you suggested. Fortunately for my car that's not going to be very hard.
Could be a possible un-tapped market here! If only I had better fabrication skills![]()
It's a 2002 Holden Commodore, the baby brother of the car you would know as a Pontiac GTO. And I actually said it shouldn't be very hard, but just for arguments sake:
It's not particularly the car that's going to make it hard, its just my general skills that are lacking
If you see the centre console:
A single-DIN slideout LCD screen will obscure the climate control, hence why I want a double-din touchscreen that I can hook up to a PC
P.S. Don't know why the photos are being shown as links![]()
