Question about PCMCIA Slot and car pc

I am putting a carpc in my MINI... I was thinking of using a MAC Mini running XP so I had a MINI in my MINI but I have seen some small PC's with PCMCIA slots in it..

I have seen the awesome USB PCMCIA adapter that is sold here that
    1. is not in stock
    2. does not work with the Verizon VZAccess software so I can use it on the PC..

What are my other options?? I would love to use the USB and mount it somewhere out in the open because the WAN Card is used in my laptop too daily so I will pull it out every day, I also got a USB External slot loading DVD/CDRW that I can use and move the PC to the glovebox but still have easy access to the DVD....

    So, my questions are...

    1. Anyone get the USB PCMCIA card to work with Verizon? what is the size of the case for the PC with the PCMCIA Slots?
    2. What is the best front end software, I have searched and read but there are so many out there...
    3. Is Windows Media center a good idea or bad??
    4. what else do I need to know ???

    thanks

    ok
first off read as much as you can in the faq section before you buy anything or get started. with this project its good to get a bearing on whats going on before you spend lots of money and are like oh **** i didnt need that or.. crap i shoulda got this. with that being said.

1.yes I have the usb to pcmcia adapter working with my 3g card from verizon. Your correct that it no longer uses vzacces(which is crap) or the MCM. what it does is sets up the pcmcia card as a modem in your dialup connections and it dials#777 I haven't had any problems. I dont use it all that often though. the adapter is not mounted yet and alot of the time, my 3G card is still in my laptop at the office.

    2. people will argue what the best front end software is. I like Roadrunner running with LSX void. Liquid smoke did an awesome job on his skin for road runner.

    3. Windows media center is ok i guess some people use it but not sure how touch screen or car friendly it is. id run a copy of xp with a front end on it instead. you can get an nlite edition of xp. i think theres something about it in the software section of the site. its basically a stripped down version of xp.

    4. read alot and anything you dont understand search for. youll save yourself alot of flaming. people dont mind asking questions, but alot of the easy ones are asked 10 times a day for the past 5 years. lol . the faq section should get you started.

I might be selling my U132 adapter I was thinking 165 shipped. if your interested. I was actually looking at changing to the kyocera KR1. since my pc is wifi enabled anyhow, Im thinking for mp3car meets etc i could broadcast my signal etc. if you dont want to go the U132 route maybe this is for you also.

search for the part number of that USB adapter. I specifically remember myself asking a few questions about it not too long ago.

I myself and going with the KR1.

What's the best car for me? Can you please tell me that?

That's essentially what you're asking when you ask what's the best front end.
