Newbie, planning to build a car pc, need help!!!

    HI ALL,

I m a complete newbie in car pc. I m planning to build a car pc for my suzuki swift. I would like to know whether the following system will work.

    processor: intel celeron 2.66mhz
motherboard: intel d865gsal(micro atx,w/onboard sound and audio
    ram: ddr400- 1g
    hdd: maxtor 160g 3.5"
    optical: dvd-rom,cd/rw combo drive

My major concern is the what kind of power supply to use in order to keep the car pc working properly during engine start?

    thanks

    kenneth

Go to the FAQ Emporium, or check the links in my signature that have a FAQ to the FAQs. Answers to your questions can be found in the "Power Supplies Explained" thread. There are also other threads in the FAQ Emporium that may be helpful, so take a scan through the individual thread titles as well.

    hi all,

after reading the faq for power supply. I found out that my cpu (celeron 2.66mhz) is using 73W of 12v current.

So my choice with probably left either

minibox-m2-atx (12vx8A) = 96w (i like this better bcos of all the feature for car environment), but i was not sure whether this is sufficient for my setup or not?

    or

    DSATX (12vx12a) = 144w

    Thanks

    Kenneth
