i did not drill and i passed a cable in my citroen xsara.. i passed it allong the engine then to the passenger door (inside the body).then i made a hole in one of the protective rubbers..then into the dash then under the carpet...

i will try to post pics for you.. the cable is only seen when you open the door (a small portion of it) in the door hinge area.. i prefered that than to drill any break pipes

There has got to be some way to get your cable through. You need to find a rubber boot that covers something else going between the passenger compartment and the engine. Make sure it doesn't get hot, or that there isn't a lot of movement, and then, using a razor blade, carefully slice an opening in the rubber boot, and slip your wires through.

I have worked on many different cars, and never was I unable to locate a place to get the wire through. It may not be easy to find, but there is a place. I don't think I EVER had to drill a hole.

look for the boot that contains all the wiring going to the dask and in car fuse box. Usually there is enough free earea to at least slip a 4awg wire in through that. Only issue with this location is it may or may not be on the opposite side of where the better connections are, so if your using a kit, the wire included may be a tad too short if its on the opposite end.

If you HAVE to end up drilling, Look for a convenient spot on the inside of the car under the dash where you'd want the wire to come out of, and then find that spot in the engine bay of the car. Make sure nothing is in the way in the engine bay, and when you srill make sure to take it slow so you don't end up shoving the bit through the firewall at the end of the drill through and puncturing something in the car.

k, i should've added this to my post

no matter where you put the wires through, it its going through any metal make sure you have a rubber grommet, wouldnt want to have the cable cut

by car flex, expansion/contraction of anything, besides, grommets are like 50 cents, better safe than sorry
