I get "device cannot start (code 10)" when I have more than one USB in my onbard hub

There is a 10ft usb extention cord between my touchscreen
    and my laptop.

There are two USB plugs that go into the laptop, and they are the touchscreen and
    the USB sound card.

If I leave just the touchscreen plugge into the USB port it works perfectly. I can
restart to my hearts content and everything works awsome.

This is where it gets a little tricky. If I turn the laptop on with just the touchscreen hooked up, and after the laptop is fully booted I plug in the sound card, everything works perfectly and just how I want it to.

Now, when I restart the laptop with both USB items hooked up to the laptop I get the "device cannot start (code 10) " error.

This is driving me nuts, I checked drivers about a million times. I tried every combination of uninstalling, pulling the plug, and reinstalling you can possibly think of. I just don't know what else to do.

The only thing I can think of is that the USB hub can't produce enough power to make up for the 10ft distance of the USB cable. Then again, I think, if I plug just the touchscreen in and then the soundcard after the laptop in, it works that way.

    I'm Just completely dumbfounded here...

Also, I tried things with the laptop that I'm using right now and this laptop has no problems with both USB plugs hooked up. The laptop is powered on after the initial crank of the engine.

Disable USB booting in your BIOS and remove it from the boot order (if it's listed there)....

If that doesn't help, try moving one of the USB devices to a port on the motherboard, not using the hub.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

I'll check that in a moment here.

The hub I'm talking about is the three built in ports on the motherboard, unless you were talking about something different possibly?

It's so annoying, I can get it to work if I manually plug in the usb sound card after everything is booted up = /.

I'm going to go try the BIOS option.

The ports on the motherboard aren't a USB hub, hence the confusion.

You might also look into updated drivers for you sound hardware.

Do a search, that has been covered numerous times, and gets asked one almost a daily bassis. It is VERY easy.
