    Laptop Audio Question

I am a total newbie with this so be nice. I have looked and looked through the different posts and I have not (at least not yet) found something that relates to my situation. I work in the IT field and have the know how for most of this stuff but the audio hook up is eluding me.

I have a old Toshiba Satelitte Pro 6100 laptop and I am trying to figure out the cheapest way to hook up the audio to my stock car speakers. The only output on the laptop I have is the headphone jack out so I guess I'll have to get a USB audio card but that is not the problem. The problem is how do I hook it into my existing stock radio? I have a 1996 Cavalier with the orginal stock radio. Do I need to buy a amp? I am not looking to blow the doors off or anything just get more verisaility.

My intention is to pull the stock radio out and just have the laptop run everything, MP3's, DVD, Radio (I am assmung a FM tuner card is required), GPS and anything else KEWL I can get working.

If anyone could help a newbie with eye strain out I would greatly appreicate it.

The cheapest? Casette adapter into your stock headunit. Granted, this won't work without a casette player.
You may be able to get an AUX input adapter for your stereo if it supports a CD changer.

However, with what you ultimately want to pull off (no headunit), you need an amplifier or amplifers.

Well that's part of the problem the tape deck stopped working as well. So if I get an amp I should be okay? LAPTOP-->AMP-->Car Speakers.

Let me rephrase my wording, Inexpensive not cheapest.

You did read the FAQ, right?

The answer to this question is in there. Not trying to bust your chops, but if the information is available, you should find it. You stated you read several posts, so it seems you know the drill. DP sent you to the right place to find the answer, now you just got to read it.

    Good luck.
