Though it may not help you specifically with the com port issue: to get my phone connected via bluetooth, I had to use the phone to look for the USB dongle, as it couldn't find it the reverse way.... Hope that at least gets you a step closer.
I'm having a bit of trouble connecting my phone to my Carpc. I have bought a Bluetooth dongle for my PC and my cell phone, a Motorola RAZR V3c, is bluetooth compatible.
I try to initialize it on the program that manages my bluetooth devices, called BlueSoleil, and I'm not sure if it connects. When I try to use PhoneControl.NET to see if it works, the connection times out and it can't connect. When I initialized PC.NET, I had to select a list of ports. My dongle is a USB one, so I wasn't sure what COM port to direct it to, which could have been the problem. I really don't know...
Can anyone give me some advice as to how to connect the phone to my pc or and hints/tips?
Thanks!

The bluetooth icon turns green if you have managed to pair the two and they are connected.
For phoco to work you have to be using the widcom drivers version 4 and above.
Can you transfer files between the two?

Have you even got the bluetooth function on the phone to turn on?
ctsoccer, i also have a razr, v3. and a bluesoleil dongle, widcomm drivers etc....phoco is not fully functional with my v3 when connected. If you read around, supposedly its a firmware problem, but i have yet to find someone who has a fully functional phoco program with their v3 that will share their secrets. Also, supposedly, the way motorola designed the v3 for bluetooth leaves alot to be desired, and doesnt communicate as smooth as other phones. I can download my phone book, try to dial out, although it never connects, have incoming calls, but the id is never displayed and i cant answer. I can send text messages, but i can only access my stored messages, not new ones. Its flaky at best. im kinda banking on rrmobil to come through instead of phoco
