You'll be fine w/ the Opus 150w and that setup.
Here's my setup as it sits on my hot bench:
- Morex 3677B Case
- Mini-ITX VIA EPIA M10000 Motherboard
- Embedded VIA C3 1Ghz CPU with Fan
- 512MB PC3200 DDR Ram
- Hitachi 30GB 2.5 Hard Drive
- DVD/CDRW Slim Slot Load Drive
- Creative USB Sound Card
- OPUS 150W Power Supply
- USB 4 port Hub
- Xenarc 7" 700TSV
I want to clean up my CarPC package by deleting the USB soundcard, delete the 4-port USB hub, and put the mobo and Opus 150W in the same case. In addition remove and remote locate the DVD drive into my dash w/ the PC in the trunk. To replace the deleted USB components, I'm planning to add:
VIA 1 to 2 PCI Riser Card
- one for additional USB ports (4)
- another intergrated SB PCI card to replace USB SB card
- BU-353 GPS Receiver
Given the removal/replacing of components are almost one to one +/-2W, the Opus 150 should be able to handle all that just fine. I used the online power calculator to get a worst case 120W draw from the system. This is about all I want to get out of my CarPC.
Before purchasing/installing the said components, can someone just please check the math if it is, in fact, okay?
Again, newbie, says it all.
TIA!
Did you read this FAQ: FAQ: Will <insert PSU model> Power Supply work with my system? by any chance?
It's good reading.
I did actually. I read that and applied the info prior to posting.
Since this is my very first attempt at building anything-computer related, I just needed a little reassurance from veterans. Especially since this is going into my car.
I'm on a steep learning curve, but I am learning fast...
