    need help.....

Im setting up a car PC....

Im running a T42 for my carputer, and a lilliput indash reciever(touch screen) with FM tuner. I recieved the new alpine USB board the mitch makes. I ordered thru mp3car.com ... My current sirius box is the sportster. I need a little direction on how i will intergate this. Im pretty much running my car puter off a docking station. ( GPS w/NAV, Streetdeck, WIFI... and now looking to setup sirius ) From what i was raeding, the sportster is not supported yet. So I need to know what to buy in order to wire this up. If anyone has pics of a similar setup that would be great.

    Thanks

I don't iknow what the Sportster is.
The USB board that you purchased is designed to go into the Alpine box that's also sold in teh store. I believe it can go in any comparable Sirius add-on box, but don't quote me on that.

You would have to either add on the additional Sirius box or transfer teh subscription to the new unit, I'm certain. I'm not currently a Sirius subscriber, so I don't know what is involved in all of that.

Basically, the USB board is a drop-in replacement for teh output board in the Sirius add-on boxes. You'd have to read up on Mitch's guides for that unit for more setup details.

MXcobra, I'm going to adding the Sirius service to my carpc as well. As I understand it you need both pieces from the mp3car store to get this to work.

The USB interface, which you said you have, and the SiriusConnect SIR-ALP1. You will then need to open the SiriusConnect and replace the a board with the USB board and then use the "new" device you have to get Sirius Radio into you CarPC.

    Hope that helps.

There are additional Sirius boxes for Kenwood, JVC, etc. to connect to various manufacturer's headunits.
I believe that all these boxes are the same, with the only difference being the output board. If that's the case, then a Sirius box designed for any headunit should work. That might help you to locate a good deal on a Sirius box on Ebay or the local paper, craigslist, etc.
You would have to confirm/deny my theory with the guy that makes the USB adapter board, however.

I was just searching around. And it looks like I need the sir-apl1 ... Then i can plug my "new" usb board into that. And in return plug my modified sir-apl1 box into my carpc via USB cable. The only thing i will need is the 12 volt power adaptor. Nobody had real clear noob instuctions how to hook the whole deal up. I will stop at bestbuy on the way home and pick up the sir-apl1 tonight ( 80 bucks ). Then radio shack for the power plug ..... I will post my results later ! Even after reading that 5000 page post on streetdeck and sirius ... Im not sure if streetdeck will even support my setup ! lol
