    Help with processors and motherboard.

    Hello.

First of all, Let me thank everyone for keeping a good forum to help noobs like me

I am new to the whole CarPC. I know my way around computers and also have build a couple.

Ill like to build a CarPC for my car. I have an old laptop that died but i could save the processor. the processor is Celeron 1.8ghz. I am not familiar with the mini-iatx. so can anyone please point me to a good and cheap motherboard to start building my own CarPC.

    Thank you.

    Sonny.

Well, what are you planning on doing? That is why there are choices. BTW, not all miniITX boards are socketed, so need to be careful there, and make sure you get the right socket. Are you certain your CPU is socketed in the first place? Many laptop CPUs are not.
You should browse the store on this site. You may want to compare prices, I don't know how fair they are since I'm not in the market. It will give you an idea what is out there atleast.

I agree. Look at the mp3.com store, as well as newegg.com for motherboards. Newegg tends to be a little cheaper IMO. Motherboards are going to be more expensive than your used to considering that its kindof a niche market. Just treat it as if you were building a regular computer: search for motherboards with the same socket, find ram that fits in the motherboard, find the right hard drive etc. The only thing different is the powersupply, but you could even use a normal one, if you also bought a dc to ac power inverter.

Agreeed, but buying from the mp3car store is what keeps this forum running without ads. So, you can always consider the price difference as goodwill.
