What about the most important part, the computer itself?
Hi all, lookingat installing a carputer in my RR Sport. I am quite happy to buy off the shelf rather than build it myself as i really don't have either the time or knowledge of computers. I'm looking at installing a xenarc CP FL9D with 1 Gb DDR, 80 Gig hard drive and XP Pro and a xenarc 7" touchscreen, i wish to have an externa DVD combo drive connected as well as wifi, bluetooth and a GPS receiver. What i'm hoping for is to power the monitor off one of the USB ports, and use the other two to intergrate two 4 into 1 USB hubs, one to power the DVD, bluetooth, wifi and GPS receivers and have the other mounted in the glove box in the front of the vehicle to connect a keyboard, ipod etc if required. Xenarc state that both their units can be powered by 12 v current. In my vehicle i have a spare 12V conn behind the centre console and another behind the dash (for the factory screen). I'm hoping to use the power behind the centre console to power the computer, which in turn will power the monitor, and split the other 12V conn to power the 4-1 hub at the front as well as the one at the rear. Will this be adequate power for my requirements? My vehicle is a diesel which requires me to turn ignition to on, pause, then to start. By doing this am i going to create any sort of power spike or is the disrupted power going to be transmitted through the 12V sockets? If so does the Xenarc inbuilt starter accomodate for this? Any info would be great!

indeed, what about cpu and memory? cause the cp-fl9d has none of that all. if you're looking to buy a complete system it would be the cp-fl9d-cs1 or cs2
Xenia & Isabelle, totally in love!

CLARION HX-D2
CLARION APA4300HX => Fountek NeoCd1.0 + TB W4-1337SD
CLARION APA4300HX => CSS Trio8
CLARION APA2100 => Dayton IB385-8
Sorry about that, looking at an intel mobile celeron 1.5Ghz processor and 1 gig of Ram, complete package from xenarc. Dunno if this is the cs-1 or cs-2 but should be enough for my requirements i hope. Not wanting to do anything fancy, just sat nav, mp3, DVD and phone compatibility...... I'm hoping this shouild be powerful enough?!
