Starting up my first Carputer install :)

So I'm starting off with something really simple. I bought a full working order Compaq Evo N600C laptop with a messed up screen from a friend for $35. I plan on throwing a touch screen unit up front, mounting the laptop brain in the glovebox, and using the aux-in on the H/U for sound.

    Some specs on the laptop.
    +Pentium III 1.2ghz-M Mobile (Thinking it's really a 4...I didn't know the 3 came higher than a 750)
    30gb hard disk @ 4200RPM
    256mb SDRRAM (Upgradable to 1024mb)
    HAD a 14.1" screen lol

Here's a tech spec website for complete specs:

Let me know what you all think

    ~Brandon~

PS--this will be used for playing music, tuning, and possible internet surfing (being a telecom technician's son has it's advantages--I've got login info/passwords for kinkos, starbucks, borders, etc...)

Should do a fine job as a CarPC. We'll be looking forward to seeing pics of the completed project. FYI, the P3's were made up to 1.33 GHz. In fact, the laptop I'm typing this post on is a Dell Latitude C610 with a P3 1.0 GHz

Thanks for the encouragement and the new info PSYKO!!

I'll post pics as soon as I get the laptop from him, he's clearing all his saved pics/vids off it first.

Hey guys...quick question. Is there a way to convert a VGA-type plug (from the laptop) into a plug for the back of my Eclipse 6600 touchscreen? If not, looks like I'll be using the laptop stand-alone style

your laptop has an s-video out that you can connect to an external screen, does your eclipse unit have a composite or s-video in?
