Adapter to fit a cd/dvd rom into a din compartment??

Does anyone know of an adapter that lets me put a pc cd/dvd rom drive into a din compartment.

I've got mine wedged in with expanding foam at the moment but i'd prefer to use something thats built for the job. i've searched around a bit and can't seem to find one.

    Many thanks.

I think you're going to have to do som fabrication for that....
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?

    Really?

I'm kinda new to car pc's but I would have thought there would be something on the market. Basically what i'm after is something that fit's into the din like a stereo cage but with some kind of additional insert that I could screw a rom drive into - plus a nice fascia to polish it off.

Has anyone else out there fitted a cd/dvd rom drive into a din? If so how did you do it?

    Thanks

I haven't done this, but I'd probably start with a broken car stereo to make the fabrication easier. You may want to use just the chassis, but using a Slot Load DVD drive and broken car cd player you might be able to make the slots line up for a stealth look. If not maybe you could glue the faceplate of the stereo to the tray, so when it is closed it looks like a regular car stereo. Just a thought.

    Peace.

    Yes, really.
There's not a lot of market for something like this, considering that you're talking about an optical drive that's designed for installation in a desktop or laptop computer, not in a vehicle.
