MBoard for Core 2 Duo T2300 and 2x512MB PC2-4200 Mobile RAM

I wanted to start my carPC project and had the CPU and memory lying around from a bad laptop accident. Does anyone know of a good mini ITX or mini-ATX board I could use with these and do you think that is a good option or should I start fresh?

I'm doing the same thing with this board...stayed up all night last night trying to find the right one.

The new core 2 duo's are perfect for car pc's with the low power consumption and 5-10 times faster than any VIA processor. On board 5.1 surround and DVI out don't hurt either.

What case are you going to use?

    Hey XAAMOTTOMAAX,

I found that last night too. Seems like the best one but it's damn expensive. In Canada that will cost me just over $300! I was thinking of making my own case unless I can find something that will fit this into the slot I wanted in my car. I have a tiny cubby hole which I need to examine to see if it's even possible and was thinking of getting the DC to DC power supply to handle the power. Thoughts?

Yeah it is pricey for sure but with the quality of the components you already have, the unit will pack a serious performance punch. I like the VoomPC case...gave up on finding anywhere in the front area of my car to install it so it's going in the trunk for me. I'm going to keep my existing Clarion stereo since it runs the Sirius, MD changer, etc and just run the PC audio out to the AUX in on the head unit and put a LCD touch screen in the other half of the double DIN opening not being used. You will surely want to get one of the DC to DC power supplies with shut down control and stuff like that. It's not going to be my primary music source so I'm going to need to install a power switch in the cabin to boot it up only when I need it. How big is the cubby you are working with?

I'm doing in a 350Z so I am going to replace my factory head unit with something nice and then use the cubby hole above it for the 7" LCD. Was thinking Lilliput or Xenarc. I don't think the Voom with fit since it's up to 10" on the one side but I have yet to go down and measure it. I'm a little scared to rip it all apart but it should be fun once I get a little more figured.

Just look for core 2 duo mobile processors like the T2400 etc. As a Canadian I can find them locally at: http://www.memoryexpress.com/index.p...ctID=7975&SID=

I found those but it is not a "Intel® Core™ Duo/Core™ Solo Socket." Which me being a newb, I don't know what the advantages /disadvantages of this type of cpu from a regular duo core would be???????
