    Custom video cable for screen

Looking for some technical help here. The new vehicle I bought, which is a 2007 Dodge Nitro has a H/U with the capability to play DVD's when the vehicle is equipped with the factory LCD screen. My vehicle doesn't have this option but I would like to install my own screen. I have the wiring schematic that shows the wiring to the factory screen. What I need help with is figuring how to fabricate a custom cable that I can use with any LCD screen. Whether is would be RCA, S-Video, or composite, or some sorta 9-pin? Can anyone help me out here? I have provided the schematic so its clear what circuits are involved.

Is this the wrong forum to ask for help with this? If it is, would anyone recommend a forum that I might get help or an answer to my question? Thanks.

should be just the video signal and video common....

    it likely outputs composite data.

you're not getting answers because you haven't provided enough information....the needed information about what format video is sent in is likely not available to the general consumer.

I'd guess what greenman said... it is a bit odd for them to use a common & a seperate shield though, usually the ground is used as a shield, but it may just be that the common is floating & the shield is a true ground... also odd for the screen to have 2 different video signals from the same source (video 1 & 2)

either way it may be a regular composite signal... why 2 of them is strange though... I know there is another lesser used interface that's not ttl or lvds, but not composite either... it's used mostly in portable dvd players to directly drive the screen... alpine uses this type of connection in there mm heads too... I don't remember the name of it, but this might be that too, although I think I remember that using more wires than this....

it's also possible I guess it's a propritary interface & some variation of an rgb

a way to test this would be to take an rca & connect the center lead to video signal 1 & then connect the shield(ground) from the rca to video 1 common, plug in a composite screen & see if you can get an image... of course if I was doing this on my own unit I would be accepting the possibilty that it may be wrong & the possibility that it could damge it, but I highly doubt it enough that I would consider trying it, but then again, don't blame me if it hurts it either
