I am getting ready to wire up my carputer using an inverter and have read a ton of posts and I think I have this right but I am looking for confirmation.
My goal is to have a PC & all Carputer related items powered directly from the battery with a switch to turn them on/off. I plan on leaving the inverter switch powered on and extending a momentary switch from the motherboard to start up/shutdown the PC.
I have hacked up the following diagram to suit my needs and I was hoping someone could confirm that it looks okay to achieve my proposed goal.

That looks correct, the relay is wired corectly as long as the switch will be sending 12v+ My only suggestion is adding a fuse on each 12v+ output side of the distribution block, so that each component is fused seperately. Also make sure the grounds all go together so there is no resistance between them and then all together to a good clean chasis ground. Looks fine otherwise just keep it on the opposite side of the car from your audio/video signal wires
looks good except do not use the ground of your cigarette lighter relay as your main ground into your distro block. It is insuffucient.
Use a good grounding point.

you already have ground to the battery and so doesn't the cig lighter. just delete the connection between the distro and the cig lighter and you'll be golden

and you might want to think of individually fusing the components off the distro block as well.

So the only modifications I need would be to use the pwr and the ground from the always "HOT" cig lighter circuit to power my switch rather then the ground on the distr block. And to add fuses before each additional powered device.?
The fused Distr block seems like exactly what I need - any good online resources to buy them from?

i don't understand why you need the cigarette lighter socket at all. you can create a switch to turn on a relay for the distro block with the same 12v+ from the battery. be carefull you're running a lot off one relay, if all that will pull more than 30amps, you have to skip the distro block and use a relay for each piece. personally i would just run fused power right to the carputer/inverter
Well the cig lighter is so that it is automatically switched. Meaning you don't actually have to flip a switch to start and shutoff the PC.
You are right about the relay though.
