    Question Newbie car battery question

I have a 2005 Hyundai Tucson LX that I'm wanting to add a backup cam & lcd screen to, but I have never installed anything in this car before & am worried about disconnecting the car battery. I'm sure this is probably a stupid question, but will disconnecting the car battery reset the stability control program, shiftronic, or something else that will be a lot harder to reset than the clock & radio presets?

i believe that deppends on the car.. 99% sure it won't affect it.. but in my citroen Xsara, when one day i did that and i had forgotten the key turned (the car was not started - just the next click after accesories) my imobilizer got jammed and i needed to reprogram it... had to take it to Citroen for that..
just ask your dealer to make sure..

you may want to make sure you have the radio security code, just in case i know with holdens you need to reenter it when you remove the battery for a while - my 2 cents.

read your car manual regarding disconnecting the battery. But I would think something as important as traction control systems wold be hardcoded and would not have to be reset.

Volvos also use a security code on the radio when battery is disconnected. (theft deterrent)

I agree that the rest of the car shouldn't care.

stability control will auto restart once you hook up battery. as will everything else. it may have to relearn a few things but the car will be fine. now that stereo. I would make damn shure you know the code first.

ha ha .. you should have known better than that. NEVER ever keep the key turned on while you remove/refit the battery.

all cars have to be designed so you can pull the battery out. but their are things you need to be aware of

make sure you have your radio code
always have the key in the off position on your ignition
Never reconnect you battery untill you have finished working on your car.

the reason for the third one is some cars like mine, check to see if your airbag has been fidled with and the cars computer needs to get cleared.

Everything else will be fine, it's all hardcoded or recalibrated on reconnection
