How to extend PC and inverter switch from trunck to dash

Guys I just tried Google to no avail. Can someone please direct me to a website that would instruct me on how to extend the on switch of both my PC and inverter from my truck up to my dash. My plan is to have two switches. One to provide power on and off to the inverter and then one to turn the PC on while power is provided from the inverter. Any other input is also welcomed.

    Thanks in advance

You just want to know how to wire a button and a switch?

You have to be more specific.

You want a button for the on/off button on the PC? THe one that goes to the mobo header?

You want a switch to flip the inverter on and off? That is easy enough. Just get a standard on/off switch. One prong goes to the +12v. The other prong goes to one side of a relay coil. The other side of the relay coil goes to ground. Then the power and ground from inverter to the relay.

Just did a little more reading on switches and can probably get around extending the switch for the inverter. But, my PC power switch has 4 wires connected to it. 2 black and two yellow that connect to the MB. Anyone have any suggestions on which of these wires to splice to the front of the car to a simple on/off switch?

Also, can someone direct me to a simple electronics forum on this if at all possible.

    Thanks

Most MB power switch are 2 wire! Most likey you are seeing it and the reset switch wires. Some MB can be set to turn on when there is a power loss in the bios so you mite be able to just put a shunt on the leads. Then by turning on your inverter your puter would come on.

The way to find out which of the pins on the headers correspond to what is look in the manual. There is no standard. They can put them anyway they want.

Turn on when the inverter is on. That would save me a bit of work. As for the manual. Ill have to search for that online. I got the PC off Craigslist and got nothing but the case. I'm going to go ahead and assume that since there are two sets of wires attached to the switch, 2 yellows and two blacks, one of each corresponds to the power and reset functions.

Open the case and look and see if there is a name and model # on the MB! If that does not work, set bios to halt on all errors then unplug keybrd. then turn back on and write down the name of bios and all numbers. You can get the info on your Mb this way.
