you're on the right track. Start thinking of what you're ultimately going to use the system for, then you can start planning what peripherals that you need. Also start reading up on startup/shutdown controllers.
Hey guys! I'm putting together my first carputer for my 2006 Dodge Charger. I don't have ANY experience with putting together a computer in the car so I wanted to post what I'm planning on buying and get some opinions. I don't mind spending a little more money if needed, I want to get the best bang for the buck.
Here are the specs:
MOTHERBOARD - VIA EPIA-EN12000EG 1.2GHz
Kingston ValueRAM 512MB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 400 (PC2 3200) System Memory - Retail
Seagate Momentus 7200.1 ST980825A 80GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache ATA-6 Notebook Hard Drive - OEM
I've got the NAV Bezel already ordered (so I've got that part figured out). I think I'm going to go with the Xenarc 7" screen (don't want to skimp on that part at all!)
I didn't want to go with a powerhouse computer ... as I want the smallest power draw possible.
So is this a good setup? Any changes/recommendations anybody can offer up I'd love to here! I really want to get this project started!
Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the reply!
I plan on using this mostly just for mp3 playing. But I'd like to have gps, DVD playback, and maybe XM radio.
I've done some research on the startup/shutdown controllers 'cause I don't want to have to manually power on/off the computer every time I get in and out of the car.
Can anybody see any reason why NOT to go with this setup?
