Do you have the part number for the housing at japanparts? I can't seem to find it on the website an dam dying to get one.

there's got to be a way to get this 8" mounted. who would you suggest taking it to to get it fabricated to mount and fit right?
Those using the mount from Japanparts, how is the reach to the screen? Also has anyone got the steering wheel buttons operating the computer? I just ripped apart my speed3 today and it's quite an interesting little inside going on there.
Just for those who might be curious about running a power line through the firewall, there's a nice place to do it right behind the glove box, which is so simple to get out. Just a piece of trim, 2 screws, and pop it out. But right behind there is the main wire bundle coming in from the engine bay. In there is a rubber grommet that has a small dimple that seems to be made for running a power line. Just poke through that and yank your powerline. Just thought I'd share that little nugget as I spent most of the day finding the best way of running that powerline and couldn't find any help on forums.
thanks for the tip. and as far as the screen it's not too bad. i had it sitting up there temp. i'm not a tall person either and the reach isn't that bad. there is the option to get the nav there from the factory. i think this part is a factory or imitation of the factory part.
there are a few options i've seen now. There was at least two other options that come up from the top of the dash. One was from thexenonstore.com, which offers motorized automatic operation like the stock nav, and plugs right into your factory head unit, but only has rca inputs and a nav input. The other one I found was just by googling. Pictures can be found on the cardomain page that shows up when you google 'mazda 3 dvd screen'
oh, and secondly, you shouldn't have to go through the firewall. The second one i mentioned and the japan parts one you can connect to the connections on the cig lighter. Make sure you have an inline fuse for it though. I decided to go with the japan parts manual operation idea, and a xenarc touch screen monitor. it has a cig lighter already attached, but i wanted to splice that wire to make the installation a lot more like stock but still connect it to the power source on the cig lighter housing
