The absolute easiest way to make a windows boot screen.....

Sorry if this has been posted before...I think this is the easiest way to create a custom boot screen.

    1. - Create a boot screen 640 x 480

Here is an example of one I created. (made for widescreen)

    2. Down this free trial program called "Tuneup Utilities" from here..
    Download Here
(You can remove program when you are done... screen will stay)

    3. Open Tuneup Utilities - Click on "TuneUp Styler 2"

    4. Click on "Change the windows XP boot screen, and create or download new boot screens"

    5. Click on "New Screen"

    6. Click on "Search Local Drives" and browse to the image you created.
After adding the photo click on "Save Boot Screen"

    7. You will need to give it a name... Click OK

    8. Highlight the screen you want to apply and click on "Install Boot Screen"

    YOU ARE DONE....

After you reboot you will notice you now have two boot options. You can remove that by editing the boot.ini file on the root C drive. Just edit it in notepad and remove the line with "(TuneUp Backup)" in it. Here is a screen shot.

    Hope this helps someone.

I am using win2k and have made a custom boot screen (that is mostly black) and my windows desktop is mostly black...

...but between showing the boot screen, and showing the desktop screen...

...it shows a blue screen for a few seconds...long enough to be annoying...

any idea how to make that screen black also?

    Great info polo6979!

I have played with the eval of this software, but have a question that may be someone can answer. Looks like we can change/create new boot screen, login/welcome screen, and style schemes. But can we implement them with out installing the software on that PC? And also, If we uninstall the software, will our changed screens remain working? I hate to install extra s/w and run extra agents that will not be needed later, I'm sure a lot of people feel the same.

    TIA

That looks like its bloatware. There is much better solutions.

It is possible to disable XP splash screen, which will slightly speed up the overall boot process. Be aware that removing the splash screen will also cause you not to see any boot-up messages that might come up (chkdsk, convert ... ), but if your system runs without any problems then it should not matter.

    1. Edit boot.ini
    2. Add " /noguiboot" right after "/fastdetect".
But if your set on using a gui and want to put your own pic use some freeware software like: bootskin or booter or bootxp

    Here is more detailed info

NOTE: updates and service packs can replace ntoskrnl.exe replacing your bootscreen.

You will need to software to do this but after you apply it just remove the software. It will leave the boot screen. I have installed and uninstalled this program on my carpc and it doesnt install any other crap and it completly removes when you uninstall it.
