Hey everyone!
The little message at the top of the screen was urging me to "make your first post today" so here I am.
Anyway, a good bit of things have happened lately that brought me to be interested in carputers... The most important being my recent purchase of a slightly-used, yes still amazing looking Black 2004 Ford F-150 Crew Cab Lariat. It's pretty fancy compared to vehicles I've owned -- most have been 91 and older, and my most recent was a 84 Jeep CJ-7 without so much as an AM/FM radio (not that I'd be able to hear it over the exhaust coming off of the built 304). Most of my cars, at least the ones WITH sound systems have had some form of upgraded stereo, weather it be just an updated head unit or a full-blown custom system that I had in my 91 Thunderbird.
Not being all too happy with the stock single-cd or FM setup, and having ample room under the back seat I figured that adding a computer would be an awesome touch to this already neat truck.
Anyway, I'm sure you'll all see me browsing around, and once I start piecing it together I'll have a lot of questions... I already have the computer: AMD 1500+ machine from a couple years back that I used as a gaming computer for a while, so atleast that's out of the way.
Cheers!![]()

I have no room anywhere... I have a hybrid Sierra. The WHOLE compartant under the rear seat is occupied by the hybrid battery system. LOVE the truck though, I get 14MPH on a 5.3L and have 4 120Volt, 20amp AC outlets in the truck through the hybrid system. The whole truck can take an extension cable and act as a generator, which came in handy a couple weeks ago when my power went out for 11 hours at my house, but I had a space heater and radio cranking![]()
Hmmmmm... 14 MPG you mean? And this is a hybrid system? Hmm I drive a 2006 Ford F-150 Lariat SuperCrew with a lot of crap on it - two massive 75 pound Odyssey batteries acting as an auxilary power system for my full-time pc and so on... I have a 5.4L Triton and no hybrid system and doing 14MPG city and about 18-19 Hwy...
When pulling a 5,000 lb load on hwy, I do about 15-16MPG. Hmmmmmmmm....
