Thread: Looking for a air filter

Rather than replacing the air filter, you should replace the exhaust.
If you want it REALLY loud, run straight headers, although that's illegal in most places.

If you want performance, you should look into making or purchasing a cold air intake.

I really don't think that any change to your air intake is going to have a significant impact on the sound from your engine.
Most of the sound is from the exhaust, hence my previous recommendation.

Get yourself a coffee can muffler. It won't increase performance, but it'll make your exhaust loud...
I don't know if that's applicable since you drive a diesel.

People wo really give a damn about performance may laugh at you, but all the kiddies will say "that sounds cool"...

An intake will have some effect on the sound, all be it, very small.

However, this is not the place to ask performance questions....

Get a K&N Filter.
The drop in style filters will do nothing, unless you "hack up" your stock air box (by drilling holes or cutting parts out)
If you get a cold air intake, which replaces stock rubber pipes with a solid metal pipe, and open cone filter you will get more "noise" from the engine itself.

K&N makes both drop in, and cone style filters.

Just add you to msn ....

What i done with the one i got all ready.. i got the pipe out and tock the filter box out and put a filter on a pipe that goes to the engine

1) you're not really doing any better since you're pulling in the hot air right off of the motor

2) is looks like the hose that goes from the motor to the air filter is quite a bit smaller than the output of the air filter....if that's the case, what's the point of the air filter?


Are you just wanting to do a bunch of mods to your car without knowing why they are good to do just so you can say you've done them?
