most major insurance companies in this country dont CARE if you take a point reduction class. Insurance companies dont go by the DMV point system. Most people THINK they do because they take the class and dont see an increase on their next renewal but insurance companies are so tight *** that they dont even check your record each renewal. Some wait 1 year to check it, some dont EVER check it unless u get into an accident... at which point the accident and anything else in the last 3-5 years is taken into account.

What a constructive comment as normal...

While I dont condone speeding as such I do think that you guys should have more lee way in a contry your size - but then your gas guzzelers are so inefficant you need a 4ltr engine just to move a shopping cart around walmart I doubt you can get a decent speed in the first place. If it was 90 in a built up area I would say - good but I think from what I have read its not.

Another VALID point is that you should have asked when the unit was calibrated last and request that the certificate was shown.

There have been a number of cases over here of people been done when they are not speeding because of this reason.

Thats what I heard so as long as my policy dosent lapse or I decide to change companies they dont see it . Also take into account if you take it to court and lose you will probably have to pay a court fee. In Illinois it is an $80.00 fee on top of the ticket. You could also go to court plead guilty and ask for court supervision (that is what its called in IL) basicly you get driving probation where you cant get a ticket in the next 3,6,9,12 months and it will be off your record. then you are just out the ticket cost. I have had a lot of friends try to fight a ticket and they have never won, like it was said earlier their guns are highly accurate when used the right way. In IL it is realy pointless to try to fight it because most police cars also have a gun in a fixed position mounted on the dash and rear deck aswell as a handheld gun. I tried to fight a ticket and lost where I honestly wasnt speeding. I was entering the interstate via onramp apparently going 83mph on the onramp in a 97 dodge ram . they were using the method of usinf a helicopter to fly above and use a stopwatch to time you between two fixed points on the interstate. then you get a mile down the road and there a police lined up waiting for the heli to radio down. I believe the ticket was ment for the dark blue truck that went by me but the officer in the heli said it was a black truck so I got hit. I still lost the fight cause I couldnt prove there was another truck on the interstate at the same time in the same area. Sorry for being O/T but just thought I wiould share my experiences with one of my speeding tickets.

I would just pay the fine + 8hrs traffic school + fee and called it done.
If you loose in court, you have to pay court fee (I'm not sure) +fine + insurance increase for 3 freaking years. You already know you are speeding.
If you aren't, fight for it.

Also, I think cops do look at this site for this type of discussion. Remember, there was one dude a while ago faking gps data to fight in court. At the end, it look like they "order" him to post a message about the verdit. Search and you find it. Just don't walk the same route that guy did.

Depending on your state, your insurance may not increase you rates for your first ticket. I know here (NC) insurance companies are not allowed to for the first one, but once you get a second one within three years they can charge for both. We also have "pray for judgement". Which means you are not charged as long as you do not get another ticket with in three years. So here you can get two tickets, pay the first, use PJ for second and still not have an increase in rates. Get a third ticket and you are SOL, or hire a lawyer and hope to get it changed to a non-moving violation.

Or if you know a cop, you could just talk to him and get out of it...I'm sure I'll offend many here, but I got out of 3 speeding tickets and 25 tickets for my tint and/or exhaust on my old 99 Eclipse GS-T that I had riced out through a cop I knew It saved me almost $2500 in useless fees that were given to me just because of the way my car looked. Ironic that after I sold that car I haven't been pulled over since (going on 4 years). Ahh, the lovely state of Illinois!

I got my first speeding ticket a few weeks ago. I paid my ticket, paid $25 for traffic school and spent one hour at traffic school. I'm on probation so if I don't get another ticket within 90 days my speeding ticket won't go on my record. You only get to go to traffic school once though around here.

Another techincallity is the curvature of the bonnet ( or hood is it over there ? ). It was prooved recently here that too can also effect the readings as the car moves towards the gun.

So are you saying the curvature of the bonnet(hood) is in conflict with the curvature of the earth?

Or is it a case that neither is curved?
